Terroir
Planted on well-drained sandy-gravel slopes along the Guanting Reservoir, where Huailai's continental climate — hot, sunny days and wide diurnal swings — suits this thicker-skinned, relatively rustic variety, concentrating color and tannin while the reservoir's moderating effect helps preserve acidity through a long, steady ripening season.

Winemaking
Hand-harvested and sorted, cold-soaked to extract fine color and tannin, temperature-controlled fermentation, aged in a mix of old and a small amount of new French oak, lightly filtered before bottling.

High Cru Tasting Notes
Medium ruby with a purple edge; coconut-cream, red strawberry, red plum, vanilla cream and spice aromatics. High acidity, tight and fine-grained tannin, saline mineral character, silky texture with cranberry and strawberry-led red fruit. Lively fruit, medium body, an elegant, refined style with a creamy, oak-spiced finish.
