A high-altitude Syrah from Shangri-La's Dagu Village — vibrant berry fruit, vanilla-coffee oak, and a long, elegant finish.
Region: Shangri-La, Yunnan, China | Grape: 100% Syrah | Vintage: 2024 | Style: Dry Red | Volume: 750ml
Terroir
The Shangri-La wine region sits at an altitude of 1,700–3,000m, among the highest-elevation vineyards in the world. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, it enjoys a dry climate, abundant sunshine and long daylight hours year-round — a rare combination of low latitude and high altitude that shapes elegant, refined wines. This Syrah vineyard was planted in 2016 in Dagu Village, on sun-exposed slopes at 2,500–2,900m. Strict yield control produces loose, sparse clusters that ensure even ripeness, crisp acidity and concentrated fruit aromas.
Winemaking
Hand-harvested grapes, aged 12 months in oak barrels (95% oak, of which 21% new).
High Cru Tasting Notes
A textbook Syrah, with pronounced pepper and spice and a touch of violet florality. Plenty of blueberry and pear fruit, with tannins that are silky and fine rather than coarse. Juicy, vivid fruit on the palate with real energy and vitality. Faint hints of liquorice, vanilla, chocolate and toffee-mocha. Medium-plus body, layered structure, and a long finish.
Food Pairing
Grilled steak, lamb chops, braised beef, coq au vin, or hard cheeses.
Ideal serving temperature: 16–18°C | Ageing potential: 5–10 years
