A Georgian tradition revived at the far end of the Silk Road — ancient winemaking wisdom sealed in amber.
Region: Turpan, Xinjiang, China | Grape: 100% Rkatsiteli | Vintage: 2022 | ABV: 14% | Style: Orange Wine
Terroir
Gobi alluvial soil of sand, clay and gravel, weakly alkaline with good drainage, at 580-1,100m. Turpan's extreme desert-basin climate — arid, sun-drenched, with huge diurnal swings — lets Rkatsiteli fully ripen while retaining concentrated flavor and structure.
Winemaking
Natural skin-fermentation in stainless steel, macerated for one month before pressing. Aged 34 months across new French oak (225L) and large foudres (2,000L) before bottling, lightly filtered, low sulfur (under 50mg/L total).
High Cru Tasting Notes
Extended-maceration orange wine with classic character — ripe yellow fruit and citrus aromatics. Powerful on the palate, high tannin structure with a full body. A refreshing orange-tea quality with a touch of dried tangerine peel; the extended skin contact gives fine, sandy tannin, but very well balanced — acidity isn't jarring, and none of the funky notes sometimes found in natural wine.
